Code Breaker

Code Breaker, the color code deduction game

The app hides a code of colored pegs. You make guesses; after each one, hints tell you how many pegs are in the right position and how many are the right color but in the wrong position. It's up to you to deduce the code before the last row.

Available on the App Store (iPhone, iPad) and on Google Play (Android).

A game of Code Breaker on a phone, dark theme, in Classic mode at Intermediate level: several rows of colored pegs already played, each with its small black and white clue pegs in a frame, the next row empty and the color palette at the bottom of the screen.

The principle in one example

At the Intermediate level, the code has 4 pegs chosen from 6 colors. Suppose the code is red, yellow, blue, orange, and a guess is red, blue, purple, orange:

Secret code

Guess 2 correct position, 1 wrong position

The app's response: 2 correct position, 1 wrong position. The hints don't tell you which pegs they refer to: it's up to you to deduce it, guess after guess. The rules detail every case, and the strategy shows how to reason.
